In the Eyes of the Animal online experience launches 22 July 2016

Dawn Yoxall

Ever wondered what it's like to be an animal in the forest? This July, Abandon Normal Devices will release online the critically acclaimed In the Eyes of the Animal, a unique 360 degree experience created by immersive experience studio Marshmallow Laser Feast. Enter this sensory 3D world from the comfort of your home via computer or mobile, and be transported on an animated sonic journey, immersed in a vibrant world belonging to woodland creatures.

“It was like being there at the beginning of creation!”

Launching 22 July 2016 www.iteota.com

Originally filmed at Grizedale Forest and presented as part of AND Festival 2015, the virtual reality experience is touring to UK and international venues, and became an audience favourite at Sundance Film Festival 2016.

Abandon Normal Devices present In the Eyes of the Animal at Blue Dot Festival at Jodrell Bank, Cheshire 22 - 24 July 2016, alongside a special live event and the addition of a new animal to the experience - the bat.

Inspired by the bat's use of echolocation which uses sound waves that reflect off objects to enable them to “see” and sense the environment around them, Marshmallow Laser Feast have created a new experience for humans. Through a powerful live binaural experience audiences will discover the Arboretum at Jodrell Bank through 360 degrees of sound. These new sonar devices, equipped with an ultrasound generator and bespoke electronic bat ears, replicate bat song and echolocation which is ordinarily beyond the reach of the human ear.

Originally filmed in Grizedale Forest using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or ‘drones’ and bespoke 360º cameras, and set to a binaural soundtrack using audio recordings sourced from the surrounding woodland, In the Eyes of the Animal is a fantastical short story through the eyes of forest creatures not to be missed.
